It's St Andrew's Day and I shall be celebrating my distant Scottish roots later (Scottish great grandfathers) by having a wee dram...

In the meantime this week we bought ourselves a new gadget with birthday money we both were given this month (it's great both of us having a birthday in the same month). It's this!

Gtec Air Ram vacuum cleaner which I have to say is incredibly impressive (and we love Dyson vacuums!). Very light and the fact it's cordless is brilliant. So far on one charge I've pretty much vacuumed the whole house..... twice... and it's still not run out of charge. We have a white and green version which came with a free additional battery pack.

What is it about British inventors and vacuum cleaners ..... ?

Please don't say they suck!

;)

We haven't got rid of our large Dyson, but I can see it might stay in the cupboard under the stairs while we whizz around with this little cutie.

Today and tomorrow I am writing Christmas cards - shout if you'd like one and don't normally get one from me :D

Sorry not to have been very good at commenting this week - I caught up with most of my f-list but yesterday was the first time I could comment, so I expect I've missed a few people!!

It's been very busy here at chez Cee!

new technie stuff news )

redundancy news )

TeeVee viewing - no spoilers )

In other news - French toast is scrummy...

Happy Sunday! :D

Our Christmas was really good, with lots of food, lots of laying around doing nothing (Eldest Cee didn't even bother to change out of his pyjamas!) and a good time was had by all.

I have a new gadget (a watch powered by light which means no batteries evah! \0/), lots of new music and chocolate ;)

This afternoon we were supposed to go to the cinema (a family 'tradition' the last few years - this year it was to be 'Tron Legacy') but we got a call from the cinema this morning saying the bad weather had meant they didn't have a copy of the film, so they'd had to cancel the show!! Apparently the bad weather has had bigger implications that I'd realised! A little disappointing, but we have all of next week to see it once they get a copy and they've refunded our reserved tickets.

I hope you've all had a splendid time too! I'm off to help Mr Cee play with his new kitchen gadget (Tefal Actifry!) to make low fat chips (French fries to some of you!).. nom, nom, nom!!!

Happy Boxing Day! :)
kazzy_cee: (ani eddie wiped the internet?)
*sings* I'm getting an iPhone 4.0 tra-la!

Mr Cee is being completely unreasonable being very sensible and won't wait outside the Apple shop near where he works for hours to get one on the release date, so I've ordered it and it'll be sent on 2nd July so I'll have to wait a bit.

*bounces*

Oh - and I have an interview for a job! It's an additional role to the two jobs I'm already doing, but as I've lost a role and a heck of a lot of salary because of restructuring, it'll help plug a gap! Interview is also in July, so wish me luck! :)

Huh...

I have a feeling Tuesday will be odd.

My alarm clock said it was 27:23 when the alarm went off this morning (should have said 06:23)....

Then we took the back up batteries out and unplugged it from the wall.....

And it was STILL WORKING.....

Dum...dum...duuuuummmm......!!!

I think my alarm clock is possessed!

I wonder what the rest of the day will be like?

Wow - so finally there is an actual case where the people providing access to bit torrents have been charged and fined. More here. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] debauched_angel for the link.)

I suspect this will open the doors to lots of other sources of illegal downloads being prosecuted too (or charging for the material as Napster ended up doing). I think it's a good thing - especially now when money to make new movies/music etc is limited.

Why shouldn't people be paid for their talent?

In other news - I went horse riding this morning despite having a gazillion things I need to sort out for Monday when I'm back at work. Ah well the weekend will be a panic situation I think. One day I'll be a grown up and do work stuff when I should do work stuff and not leave it all to the last minute!

In other, other news - this arrived today, and it's gloopy and smells lovely (I got the yellow one) and it really DOES clean all the little crevasses in the keyboard! :) There's a video and everything! Squishy fun!

Also I would love to write copy for that website - it's just so cool.

I have not been commenting much or posting much - it's been really hectic at work!! I have been reading though :)

It didn't take me long to get some strategies up and running to make my new department work better. Finally the staff have started to trust me - I think they weren't sure about me to start with, but now they're confiding in me and I'm actually getting them organised (a task in itself!!).

Generally things are working more efficiently than they were and my Manager is pleased - she keeps telling me how glad she is I'm there which is nice.

more work stuff )

Family stuff has been busy too as Mr Cee has started taking the eldest to see some universities. He visited Sussex this week and really liked it. Next week is Bristol, then Manchester and Exeter. He's also applied to Bath but hasn't heard from them yet.

stuff about my boys )

In other news I haz a new gadget! An iPod Touch which is fabulous! I can see how people are keen on the iPhone, as the Touch has all the features of the iPhone (without the phone of course!) including WiFi so I can surf the 'net and download all kinds of added gadgets for it. So far I love it! 32Gb is scarily only just big enough for all my music though. I have 2Gb free at moment! :)

Last "Being Human" for this series tomorrow! I am happily unspoiled :)

We have had delivery of a new 'fridge/freezer and so everything from the old 'fridge has had to be removed.

New 'fridge needs to cool down for a few hours before all the 'stuff' can go back inside.

So we put everything from the 'fridge outside - because outside is COLD this evening.

I've just gone out to get the water from our filter jug for a bedtime drink. The water is FROZEN!!!

Ho boy!! I think we need to move all the 'fridge stuff into the garage otherwise it'll be all frozen by tomorrow morning when we can put it in the new 'fridge.

Good grief!

It's minus 2 Centigrade out there!!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

On the upside the new 'fridge/freezer is very funky! :)

We have just saved ourselves £225 (around $375) by buying a new fridge/freezer online.

It's being delivered on Tuesday and they're taking away the old fridge at the same time.

'Scool!

Anyone else found any good bargains?

Clicky if you want to see some great USB designs to make you laugh. I adore some of the clocks further down the page - especially the maths one which Mr Cee found highly amusing :) I also covet the office chair....

Has Insane Journal died? The last few days I can't get onto it which is a pain because I've got loads of RSS feeds that I don't want to clutter up my f-list here with, so I've set them up over there.

*pouts*

We've also gone completely mad and ordered solar panels for our house. We've pretty much done everything we can to make this late 1930s house as green as possible (double glazing, insulation, eco-friendly products and appliances) but we thought we might as well try and cut down bills a bit.

So we had a surveyor around yesterday and we signed on the dotted line. Apparently we should save around 40% on heating water which isn't bad considering I live in dull old Blighty! They're coming to look again at the house in a week or so and the panels should be installed in about 6 weeks.

Yay - it's December -

  • I've finished all the requested banners (didn't stick to just 5 in the end)
  • I've loaded up some user pics that reflect the season a little more
  • I've put up my Lj Christmas theme (same as last year 'cos I like that one!)
  • I've got all the cards ready to write out and send on Monday
  • I've received my first card of the season (thanks hils)
  • my husband brought me some flowers to cheer me up *wubs him* AND I can smell them (yay!!)
  • I found a mirrored disco ball to join the fairy lights I have in my office at College (I'm going for glitz!)
  • my 16 year old had a day in Lille today with the school and left at 4.45am and my husband took him to meet the coach at school (phew!).  Such a long way to go for just three hours in France, but still - he seems to have had a good time and practiced his French (which is also good!)
  • I have a very large pile of marking to do tomorrow, but I'm feeling OK now and can cope with it.
  • My main computer is STILL not working and we're waiting for recovery disks from the manufacturer to fix it which haven't arrived yet (boo!)
  • We have a new camera (yay!) birthday pressie to hubby and me, but I can't upload photos from it yet because of the isshues with the main computer (grrr!) It's fun though.
  • I bought a Smartphone a few months ago, and have managed to find LOADS of free programs for it so now it does everything I want  it to including having Eddie Izzard as the voice telling me where to go on the built in SatNav (LOL!!!!)
  • I can smell fresh bread rolls cooking that hubby has made to have for dinner with a selection of delicious cheese and salads and wine *tummy rumbles*.  I love the smell of baking bread filling the whole house!
Life - yup, it's good!  Hope all's well with everyone else and you're enjoying your weekend!!
