[livejournal.com profile] uglybusiness has created a new community for her art work.  For those who do not know she is an amazing digital artist who also used to create artwork under the name Zugma from many different fandoms.  Due to personal circumstances (explained in her new community) she has not been around much in the last few years, but I urge you to watch her community to see all the amazing work she does.  She is uploading items slowly at [livejournal.com profile] latenightlight.

Happy thing 21 for this year :)

In other news [livejournal.com profile] redscharlach has opened an online T shirt shop and you can find it here. Brilliant stuff if you're into T shirts with cute fandom stuff on and are familiar with her icons (see mine).

Eddie Izzard is running for Sport Relief - you can read how it all came about here. So far he's run 30 miles a day for 7 days, and his feet are not in good shape.

It's for a great reason, and I admire him so much for doing this. He's posting on Twitter (lots of photos of his route around the UK) and you can follow him there to see where he is each day.

Oh - and of course you can also sponsor him if you are able to...?

*nudges you*

Want to create your own icons, or edit photos? Look no further than Artweaver a free package that is very similar to Photoshop.

Totally free, totally brilliant! Google for lots more links if the one above isn't supported in your country.

In other news - it's snowing here again... *sighs* On the other hand - this may mean a snow day tomorrow (I hope).

is up and running again. I loved the idea of having awards for everyone and I think it really made someone feel good if they got one.

Please check out the comm and join in. Everyone deserves to have recognition and awards! :)

In other news - I'm exhausted and I've only been back at work three days!!!!! Also - there's a real risk that we won't have enough students to run our courses ZOMG!! This would be beyond bad.

I've wanted one of those ultrasonic cleaners for ages, and they've always been really pricey, but hubby and I went into town today to see a film, and went shopping beforehand to our local Tchibo shop. I love the place - it's always got something unusual in, and I've got some really good things recently (like curtains for a HUGE patio window for 15 pounds!). Anyhoo - they had one of the ultrasonic cleaners for about a third of the price I've seen elsewhere, so I decided to treat myself to one.

I've just cleaned my old distance glasses that have been used for driving so have been left in the car, used for horse riding outings (I don't see so well when it's darker, and I figure that I should use them to drive, so I ought to wear then when I'm riding a horse LOL!), and generally have fallen on the floor of the car, and been treated very badly over the last 4 years.

AMAZING results! They look like new and the water is FILTHY!!!! I was seriously sceptical, but I want to clean EVERYTHING now!!!! It says you can clean CDs and DVDs, jewellery and even water proof watches (although there are long disclaimers about that, so I don't think I'll risk it!).

However, youngest cat hated the noise it makes, even though to my ears is was a very quiet hum, clearly to his it was scary. So I'll wait until he's asleep somewhere tomorrow before I use it again.

I'd recommend one!

Also - Rush Hour 3 is really really funny with amazing fight scenes! *adjusts kung fu geek glasses*

*adds them to list of things to clean ultrasonically*

It's time to *deep breath*

CLAIM YOUR BANNER!!!!

Authors - it's your chance to claim a banner during this weekend (30th/1st July).

To make it interesting it's been decided (yes, I decided it!) that the banners can go to anyone. So this means two (or more!) people can claim the same banner and interpret the fic specifics however they like. I think it'll be interesting to see how different people interpret the same banner and specifics.

Remember - all fic must be posted between 1st and 7th August

Fics can be drabbles, ficlets or longer if you have time, but please follow the specifics the artists have suggested

You do not have to be attending the Midimeet to enter this competition - there are still some places left if you'd like to come! (sign up here)

All 36 wonderful banners can be found here - copy and paste the URL to find the specific post on the [livejournal.com profile] writerconuk site.
