I thought I had better put up something if anyone is looking at this site to let you know Dreamwidth was being used by me as a backup for my Lj. However, I have decided that I will not longer use this site.

Some ex-Lj people may remember that one of the reasons Dreamwidth suddenly had a lot more users in 2007 was because Lj decided to delete any comms if they contained paedophilia porn - both written fiction and manips and drawings. All of those comms ended up here on Dreamwidth and I feel uncomfortable using a site which allows that kind of content.

I won't be updating here any more or using it as an archive. To archive I'm using ljarchive to backup to my computer as I think that's much safer than anywhere online these days.

You're welcome to visit me on Livejournal for more recent ramblings.

Yesterday was [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday so below the cut I've cross posted my entry for yesterday.

Today it's sunny again, and even though it's forecast to be dull later I thought I'd take the risk and do some laundry. The first load is on the line and hopefully it's going to dry OK. I've had to water all the plants in pots on the deck as we have had several days now without any rain, so they were looking a bit dry. I've got some liquid plant food so they all had a treat which should be a good thing as they are all showing a lot of growth after all this sunshine.

Todays 100 question is: 30: Think of it: have you ever been truly scared? Oh yes - more than once. I don't like heights so I get scared if I'm near to the edge of anything high, although I can talk myself out of it if I'm given enough warning. I also don't like driving on busy motorways but again, I can do it if I have to.

Right - I need to get on with that butterfly if I'm going to finish it and as I've already vacuumed the whole house, dusted everything to within an inch of it's life and have put another load of laundry on to wash I had better get on!

Happy Thursday!

29: What's something really cute that one of your friends does and is totally endearing?
I've got nothing. I suppose because most of my friends are over 21 and I wouldn't describe much they do as 'cute'....!

In other news I have been trying to import my Lj over to Dreamwidth just to back it up and so far it's been 'waiting in a queue' for 22 hours. I'm so tempted to forget about it, but I'm stubborn....

Also - this is an interesting article all about the Lj clones out there. I'd completely forgotten about Insane Journal, which I've just logged into (it's a miracle I remembered the password!!). I seem to have last used it in 2007 and I got sidetracked reading the entries! Good grief I was still teaching back then and both boys were still at school. Oy!

It's mass observation day today so I shall be posting in [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday tomorrow about today, but I met my ex-colleague who commissioned a stained glass dragonfly from me this morning and he was pleased with it. I have folding cash too *g*

I'm sure there was something else I was going to post about, but it escapes me right now.... I'll probably remember as soon as I click post *sigh*

Also I joined a friending meme (here) and I have new friends! *waves*
kazzy_cee: (cloud sky kc)
Sunrise or sunset?
I like both. I like that 'red sky at night, shepherds delight' is usually true. I like seeing the sunrise in the morning, but I usually only see it in the Spring, Summer and Autumn, but I have been known to get up and see it in the Summer too. The sky can be pretty spectacular.

It's been another really sunny day. I'm getting suspicious that we will have a bad summer as that's happened before when we've had a really lovely spell of sunny weather in April.  I hope not!
kazzy_cee: (ani earth chocolate)
27: What's your favourite bubblegum flavour?
I don't really like bubblegum. I remember there being a lot of fuss about new flavours in the '70s but I kind of grew out of blowing bubblegum bubbles when I hit 16 and had a brace on my teeth. Bubblegum and braces do NOT mix well...

In other  news I have finished the dragonfly commission, so I've moved on to the next butterfly. This one is for my belly dance teacher and she wants black and red. It's always hard to decide how to use the different colours and get the textures to work together, but this afternoon I think I've cracked what I shall be doing and made a start cutting the glass.  It's going well.

Question 26

Apr. 9th, 2017 03:17 pm
kazzy_cee: (kazzycee lovehearts)
What are the shoes you've had for forever and wear with every single outfit?
I've had a pair of short black ankle boots which I wear a lot, and they are very useful as they go with leggings as well as jeans or skirts/dresses. I've had them for around 6 years now and they have been resoled once already and they are very comfortable.

It's nearly 3pm here and currently the temperature in the sun in my back garden is 25.9C. Glorious! My garden has some really pretty flowers in it now. There are blue and white bluebells! I'm going to transplant them once they have finished flowering as they are would benefit from being under the chestnut tree at the end of the garden. I'm hoping to make a little 'wild' area under the tree so it's like a woodland.

The white lilac cuttings I transplanted from my old garden are actually flowering even though the plants themselves are only around 60cm tall. I'm so pleased they have survived and are thriving as apparently lilac is difficult to take cuttings from and I loved the plant in our old garden.

Wut!??

25: What's the weirdest place you've ever broken into?
I have never broken into anywhere - what an extremely odd question.

In other news - it's a lovely sunny day AGAIN! It was sunny but chilly earlier, but now it's warm in the sunshine. All the kitties are basking and I have been able to get a coat of paint on the garden bench Youngest Cee bought me for Christmas. I have had similar benches in the past and they benefit from being painted before they are assembled as this prolongs their life by many years. The coat of very thin varnish they are shipped with is just not up to the job which we found out to our cost the first time we bought the style of bench in the past. It's so warm the paint is drying extremely quickly, so I should be able to get a couple of coats on before this evening and then it might need one more, but hopefully tomorrow I can finally put it together and enjoy sitting in the sunshine on it.

It's been so light and sunny the last few days that the solar panels have been generating electricity like crazy and we have an app where we can check what they are doing which is fun. We've also exported a fair bit of electricity back to the grid, so hopefully the next cheque we get from the Government will reflect that :) Under the cut for a copy of what we've been generating for those interested.

I've nearly finished the dragonfly commission. I'll hopefully post pictures tomorrow.  Happy Saturday all!
kazzy_cee: (baking eggs)
My house smells amazing. Freshly baked focaccia breads for tonight's dinner (antipasti Italiano) and dark ginger and carrot cake which I've not made before. This will need to be iced later with lemon and ginger icing, but it's too hot at the moment.
I am so hungry.......

Secrets?

Apr. 7th, 2017 10:31 am
kazzy_cee: (Spike - key scene)
24: Is there someone out there you would trust with every single one of your secrets?
I have no secrets from Mr Cee, so that answers that one :)

In other news it's amazingly sunny here in the SE of England we have had three days of sun and fairly good temperatures (it's reached around 21C in my back garden at the height of the day).  Tomorrow it's supposed to be reaching around 24C which is unheard of for April! Lovely.

I am very grateful I have removable covers on my sofa as one of the cats had barfed on it last night. No idea which one, and it's annoying as in the old house we could shut the door to the front room so they couldn't get to the sofa at night. Open plan is lovely, but frustrating sometimes.I have two loads of laundry on the line outside already drying including the footstool cover and I shall be off to Pilates in a minute.

No [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive yet, but it's early in the day and I may post later if they turn up.

23: What's your favorite thing to do on lazy days where you have 0 obligations?
Read or create something - draw, embroider (if it's chilly outside), create something in stained glass.... bake bread or make a cake.

I have no obligations today and I'm making goats cheese this morning. Some seasoned with fresh chives and some with smoked paprika.

Is it me, or is it quite arrogant to think a oligarchy like Russia is going to be worrying about my little English Lj? I understand people aren't happy, but I do think it's a shame that people are going to move exclusively to Dreamwidth which is based in the US. Isn't anyone worried about the fact that in the US your data can be sold? I would have though that would be worse. I have had to lock down my 'security' on Facebook because as soon as I signed up my spam folder was full of US advertising, despite the fact I very rarely post there, and now FB is likely to be accessing my information regardless of the 'security' settings I have put in place.

Also - every time I see TOS abbreviated I tend to think that I don't give one.

Question 22

Apr. 5th, 2017 05:29 pm
kazzy_cee: (ani Spangel what)
Are you a morning person?
Mostly. It depends on the time of year as in the winter I want to hibernate. However give me a sunny morning in Spring/Summer/Autumn and I'll be up with the lark, much to my own annoyance as I'd quite like to sleep in occasionally. I am not someone who can fall back to sleep once I am awake, so if that's 5am that's when I'll have to get up and do something.

In other news Mr Cee and I went to see Logan last night. The cinema was surprisingly full for a Tuesday evening, but I suppose there were people there like us who didn't want to miss seeing the film on the big screen before it stopped it's local run. We are so close to the end of the run for the film that there was only one performance a day at 8.45pm which meant we didn't get home until midnight. However, it was a very good end to the Wolverine trilogy, and very moving in parts. I was completely spoiler free which was fun too, as I didn't realise Stephen Merchant and Richard E Grant were in it! Both Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman were excellent and we both enjoyed it.

One small annoyance was that the cinema serves beer at the late performances, so the smell of beery breath was quite overwhelming, and WHY do people have to buy smelly food and eat in the cinema? It's so expensive too!! Fortunately most people had stopped rustling their wrappers and nachos (ewww) by the time the film actually started. *sigh*
kazzy_cee: (handbags)
21: Talk about your favourite bag, the one that's been to hell and back with you and that you love to pieces.
I don't have one favourite bag, but I do have a favourite style from one particular manufacturer: Kipling's Alvar bag to be precise. I have many pretty variations in colours and designs but I really like the style of the bag and the size is large enough to carry all the things I need but still leave room for other things if necessary. I am resisting buying another one in this season's colour but they are so useful!!

In other news it's been an incredibly busy day. This morning I spent time at my stained glass class finishing the dragonfly commission for my ex-colleague. Unfortunately when transporting it to class one of the wings cracked, however it's hardly noticeable, and following some advice from my teacher I shall make a new one for him which will be stronger. I shall hang 'my' one up somewhere outside I think. It's about 30cm across and made of irridescent glass so it sparkles. The new one will be better. :)

I got home from the class and after grabbing some toast I shot up to Camden to buy some more glass supplies so I can make the butterfly my belly dance teacher has commissioned. She wants a red and black butterfly, and it's been challenging finding the glass as red is made by adding gold to the molten glass. I have some and it means the price of the butterfly will be quite high (she's OK with that!).

I got back at 3.30, and had a coffee and rested my hot feet from all the walking. This evening Mr Cee and I are going to see Logan at the cinema, but as it's nearly completed its run for here it's only on at 8.45pm which means a late evening home. Mr Cee is going to work at home tomorrow to avoid having to struggle across London to work though :)

Laterz....

20: What's your favorite eye colour?
This is an odd question isn't it? I mean all colours of eyes are glorious because they are so individual aren't they? I like Mr Cee's eyes which are olive green and they were one of the things I found attractive about him. However, I would no doubt have been attracted to him if his eyes had been another colour - it's only one facet of a person.

Youngest Cee is 24 today. He liked his presents and we had a very nice lunch out today. There is bonus sunshine today and we have spent the afternoon in the garden drinking coffee and chatting.  Peaceful....
kazzy_cee: (postit check Lj)
Do you keep a journal? what do you write/draw/ in it?
Ha! Yes I do keep a journal which is called Livejournal. Yes I do update it fairly regularly and I used to post arty stuff as well. My main regret is that there are fewer people here than there used to be, and most of them are currently moaning on Facebook about how they loved Lj but only one person on my f-list has actually come back and is posting again. *sigh* Still - I don't write for anyone else, I tend to write for me and I thank you if you read my boring old entries and I also thank you if you comment or 'heart' an entry.

I've met lots of people here at Lj and some of you I have even met in RL and I shall enjoy seeing again at [livejournal.com profile] writerconuk in September.  It's a good place.

It's been a nice sunny weekend on the whole and Mr Cee has cut the grass as it was cat knee high and they were getting lost in it! They have been frolicking around the garden all afternoon in the sunshine. We bought a jasmine plant for the courtyard garden at the front of the house which smells amazing and is covered in flowers. I have started to make the dragonfly one of my ex-colleagues has commissioned having seen the stained glass butterfly I posted photos of on FB. Tomorrow is Youngest Cee's birthday and so he and Mr Cee have the day off and we are going to a fancy restaurant for lunch.  Eldest Cee is coming home for Easter weekend so that's something to look forward to. /random

Life is good.

The 100 question meme question today is: 18: Tell us about something dumb/funny you did that has since gone down in history between you and your friends and is always brought up.
I can only think of something that happened relatively recently when a woman tripped up while holding an open cup of hot soup when my friends and I were in London and the soup ended up over most of us. Fortunately I saw it coming and grabbed one of my friends and managed to get her out of the way of the majority of the soup as it headed towards us. The people around were really kind and offered wet wipes and tissues and a local barber ran into his shop and brought out paper towels to help us clean up. Fortunately it only went on our coats and so we avoided being scalded. We did all smell of soup for the rest of the day though.

Friday!

I'm off to my Pilates class in a moment but I thought I'd update as I have a moment.

The question of the day is 17: What colour do you really want to dye your hair? My hair is already dyed - the hairdresser uses two colours, one slightly lighter on the top and a darker shade underneath which gives a nice subtle colour which looks natural - a kind of light brown. I hate to think what my hair colour is naturally - mostly all grey I should think. I wish there was a way to colour your hair that would give vivid fun colour that would then just wash out as I'd like to try being all white for a day, or a bright red to see what it looks like.

I'm off to the hairdressers on Monday and I can't wait - I've got to the stage where my hair needs a trim and it's getting on my nerves. Of course that means on Monday morning (just before I leave to get it tinted and cut) it will look fabulous because that is always the way of my hair.

Youngest Cee has seen a flat he wants to look at tomorrow and Mr Cee is going to go with him.  It's in Essex which is about an hour away by car from here. He's not thinking of buying just yet as he's not sure whether he's staying in his job at the moment, but he'd like to see what he might be able to afford. It's a shared ownership flat which would mean he buys 25% of it and rents the rest, but at least it means he gets a foot on the property ladder. Unfortunately he likes his job but he doesn't have enough to keep him busy all day and usually finishes his work around 11.30 which is incredibly frustrating. They really like him there and say he's very good (they are happy for him to read a book once he's finished his work!), but it's so boring that he's keeping an eye out for alternatives. Nothing worse than a day at work that drags....

Right - I'm off to stretch - laterz.....

100 questions original set can be seen here.

The question for today is a tough one for me as there is so much choice: What's your favorite pasta dish?
I love pasta but I suppose the easiest way to answer this is to say my choice of pasta dish is usually (a) vegetarian (b) tomato based and (c) includes cheese.  I really love a vegetable lasagne made with aubergines, courgettes (zucchini), tomatoes, onions and other lovely veg. A really good bechemel sauce, mozarella and parmesan. I like it when there's a crusty cheesy top too. My favourite is always home-made (by me LOL!).

Served with a green salad (which should contain asparagus if in season), garlic bread (preferably a fougasse) and a good red wine. Yum!

I posted a photo of my stained glass butterfly on Facebook as I was on there checking a group, and two people now want to commission one each \0/

Firstly - the sign up post for [livejournal.com profile] writerconuk is up here. SIGN UP SIGN UP SIGN UP!!! (it's going to be fabulous). Also please pimp. Also please let me know if you want to host a discussion/talk/presentation - otherwise you're going to end up with me doing too many and no-one wants that.

Secondly - the stained glass butterfly is finished and is hanging on my studio and looks good. Photos under the cut.

My glass teacher asked to put it up on "the website" which means I must be getting good at the soldering, although I have no idea which website she means.... I shall have to ask her next week! :)

Thirdly the question of the day is: 15: Go google a weird space fact and tell us what it is! Answer: Mercury and Venus are the only two planets in our solar system that do not have any moons. Remember this - it may come up at the [livejournal.com profile] writerconuk quiz. Of course it also might not.... *waggles eyebrows* Also - there are a LOT of websites claiming to have interesting facts about space! Who knew?

Fourthly - or finally - my bellydance teacher has asked if I want to do a solo at a show in May. *gulps*
kazzy_cee: (moving box)
14: If you were to live with your best friend in an old flat in a big city, what would it look like?

If money were no object (ha ha ha in London this would be a HUGE issue!), I'd like to live in a loft apartment like a converted disused factory with exposed brick on some walls. There would be a large open plan living area linked to a modern kitchen (which I've just realised I have in our new home which is probably why I like the style so much). Lots of large windows with excellent light too. If anyone has seen Supergirl, her apartment is the style I would like.

*Googles*

Like this (how the heck does she afford this on an assistant's salary!??!!):

[livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive have their questions up a little later than usual and they are about cooking from [livejournal.com profile] brutti_ma_buoni :)  Under a cut as it got long.

Back to the 100 questions thing....
13: what's something that made you smile today? It's only 8.42am, but Zero the cat has made me smile. He is still having to have eyedrops for his eye issue and he's so used to it now that he just lies there and lets me put the drop in his eye. Then he sits waiting for the treats he knows are coming and purrs at me. Makes me smile every time! Of course the others know there are treats being dished out and usually turn up and wait when they see me putting the drops in his eye.

Right - time to get on! I want to finish making my stained glass butterfly today as I want to start on the next project which will be something to hang on the front of the house in the new courtyard area. :)
